Hearing in the Supreme Court on the bail plea of ​​Gautam Navlakha in the Bhima-Koregaon case today

The hearing in the Supreme Court, Navlakha’s bail plea on Wednesday in connection with the alleged links between the Naxalites and the Yalgar Parishad.

Navlakha challenged the February 8 order of the Bombay High Court in the apex court on 19 February. The High Court had rejected his bail plea, saying that he saw no reason to interfere with the order of the special court.

The bench of Justice UU Lalit, Justice Indira Banerjee, and Justice KM Joseph will hear the petition of Navlakha in the apex court.

Hearing in the Supreme Court: According to the police, some people had allegedly given provocative and provocative speeches at the Yalgar Parishad meeting in Pune on December 31, 2017, leading to violence in Bhima Koregaon of the district the next day.

Navlakha has sought bail in the Supreme Court on the grounds that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) failed to file its charge-sheet within the stipulated limit of 90 days.

In such a situation, they should be granted bail under the provisions of CRPC. Navlakha has said in his application that he was arrested in the house. This period should also be added to the custody period.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday expressed displeasure over the central government’s move to backtrack on the issue of installing CCTV cameras in the offices of various investigative agencies.

These agencies include the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), and the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Stating that the issue was related to civil rights, the apex court said that it does not accept the excuses of the central government. The Center had sought adjournment of the case.

A bench of Justices RF Nariman, Justice BR Gavai, and Justice Hrishikesh Rai told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing on behalf of the Center, “We feel that you are pulling back.”

The SC had on December 2 last year said that CCTV cameras and recording equipment should be installed in the offices.

These are investigating agencies, including CBI, NIA, ED, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Department of Revenue Intelligence (DII), Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO).

Instructions were given to those who make inquiries and who are empowered to make the arrest.

During video conferencing on Tuesday, Mehta told the bench that the postponement has been sought as the case may have different implications.

To this, the bench said, “It is related to the rights of citizens.” We do not accept excuses. We are not worried about its impact. ‘
