The Water Commission said that Poonch, Reasi, and Ramban districts of Jammu and Kashmir – Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, and Bageshwar districts of Uttarakhand subdivision are under moderate flood risk in the next 6 hours in some water areas and neighborhoods.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rains in Bihar, Rajasthan, Odisha, and Uttarakhand today. IMD stated in its All India Weather Alert Bulletin, ‘Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Gangetic West Bengal and Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam and Meghalaya, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, and isolated rains may occur over Kerala and Mahe.
The IMD has further stated that the low-pressure area lies over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining areas. It is likely to persist during the next 24 hours. The IMD advised, “The monsoon trough is active and is south of its normal state. It is likely to remain active during the next 2-3 days.
Under the influence of the above systems, heavy to very heavy rainfall and widespread rainfall over the state of Gujarat may occur in Southwest Rajasthan on 25 August. According to the IMD, ‘strong winds (speeds reaching 50-60 kmph) is likely to move over the Bay of West Bengal and many adjoining areas of West Bengal and West Bengal. Apart from this, winds of 45-55 kmph can be moved along the North Arabian Sea and Gujarat coast.
