Hindu, becomes president of Pakistan Constituent Assembly: 10 August 1947 Gandhi, stops in Kolkata. The day of independence was left only 05 days away. In both India and Pakistan, there was a lot of political stir. Constituent Assembly was formed for the first time in Pakistan.

Its interim president was a Hindu and friend of Jinnah. There were riots in Calcutta. Although Gandhiji had reached there. There was no reduction in riots in Calcutta. There was an arson. Hundreds of thousands of burnt houses and shops were seen everywhere.

When Bapu saw this city once after getting off the train, he could not believe that this condition of this city could also happen. He reached Sodepur ashram several kilometers away from the station. After Gandhiji reached Sodepur Ashram, people were coming to meet him in flocks, but the pain and anger were visible on every face.

Gandhiji was worried about the situation. Then former Mayor of Calcutta S.K. Mohammad Usman was there. He also came to meet Gandhiji.  He came to meet Gandhiji with a very large group. Gandhiji felt that it had come to put pressure on him. But he requested her to stay there with him till August 15.

Gandhiji felt that God is asking him to stay in Calcutta.
He said, we know that you are going to Noakhali but we are also yours, please help us, stop here. Gandhiji felt that this was God’s will. He stopped there. Things stopped changing with his stay there. Kolkata began to calm down at the mouth of the blast.

The first meeting of Constituent Assembly in Pakistan
The first meeting of the Pakistan Constituent Assembly started in Karachi. Jogendranath Mandal a Hindu was elected its interim president. Mandal was among the staunch leaders of the Muslim League.

He loudly demanded Pakistan with Jinnah. He moved to Pakistan before partition. There he was later made the first law minister of Pakistan. In this meeting, Mohammad Ali Jinnah was unanimously given the title of Quaid-e-Azam.

Mandal had to return again
Jogendranath Mandal was among the leaders of the Muslim League who were very close to Jinnah. He left India and went to Pakistan at the behest of Jinnah. As long as Jinnah remains alive, till then his condition was fine. But after his death, such deep differences arose between Mandal and Liaquat Ali that he had to return to India.

Performance in Pondicherry
In Pondicherry, the French India Student Congress demonstrated to give independence in front of French officials. In addition to the districts of Mahe, Yanam, Karaikal coming into it along with Pondicherry, Chandranagar, situated on the banks of the Hooghly river in Bengal, was under the French government.

In this demonstration, only demand was made that France merge the territories with Indian hegemony into India. However, this did not happen at that time. In 1954, Pondicherry and other places were merged with India.

Special trains
30 special trains were run to bring people from India and Pakistan. Under this, the first special train was transported to Karachi to government staff a day earlier.

Sandur State merged with India
Princely State Sandur signed the merger letter in India. Raja Yashwant Rao, the head of this state, signed a letter of consent for the merger. This state was to be merged with Madras State.
