Pakistani intelligence agency ISI is conspiring to honeytrap Indian Navy soldiers to obtain intelligence information about Indian defense establishments.

Now the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a charge sheet against Mumbai resident Aman Salim Shaikh in the Visakhapatnam espionage case related to this.

An official statement said on Friday that the NIA has filed a chargesheet against Aman Salim Shaikh, a key accused of the Pakistani intelligence agency of honeytrap Indian Navy personnel to collect confidential information related to defense establishments.

It said the anti-terrorism agency filed a supplementary charge sheet against Sheikh in the special NIA court in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday.

Three arrested so far in espionage cases.

NIA had arrested Aman Salim Sheikh on November 20 last year in Mumbai. Including Sheikh, the total number of accused arrested so far in the case has reached three.

NIA has already filed a charge sheet against a total of four people including two absconding Pakistani operatives.

The NIA filed an additional charge sheet against Manmohan Surendra Panda and Alven on November 6 of last year.

The counter-terrorism agency on Friday filed a supplementary chargesheet in the NIA special court in Visakhapatnam.

NIA charged Aman, a resident of Mumbai (Maharashtra), under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The NIA, which took over the case on June 5 last year, during its investigation found that Aman was working for Usman, a suspected Pakistani agent, to further an anti-India conspiracy.

He was also receiving money from other suspected Pakistani operatives including Mir Balj Khan, Alwain, and some other persons through crypto channels to complete the tasks assigned by Pakistani intelligence agencies.

On 6 November 2023, the NIA filed a chargesheet against two accused in connection with the case.

Further investigation is underway in the case initially registered at the Counter Intelligence Cell police station in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
