India on Monday slammed Pakistan in the 45th session of the Joint Human Rights Council. First Secretary of India’s Permanent Mission in Geneva, Senthil Kumar said that Pakistan should desist from misrepresentation in India’s internal affairs.

We are not surprised that Pakistan has once again tried to divert the attention of the Council through false information and political propaganda. Pakistan should look at its house before questioning others …

Secretary Senthil Kumar said that human rights defenders in Pakistan are being intimidated, threatened. Human rights activists are being tortured and abducted.

Violence is taking place against journalists and human rights activists. Especially women and minorities are constantly being targeted. In Pakistan, daughters, sisters, and mothers are being tortured.

Senthil Kumar said during the Right to Reply that human rights are being violated in Pakistan but he is busy making baseless allegations on India.

Allegations of blasphemy are particularly worrying incidents in Pakistan. This has threatened the life of the accused. Kumar said that only 12 days ago the OHCHR expressed serious concern over incidents of violence in the blasphemy cases in Pakistan in its press briefing.

Senthil Kumar, the first secretary in India’s Permanent Mission in Geneva, accused Pakistan of political propaganda in the United Nations (UN), saying that the misleading information being spread by Pakistan about India’s internal affairs is full of ruthless references.

Senthil Kumar said that the Human Rights Council had called on Pakistani authorities to end the secret custody of human rights activist Idris Khatak, about whom no one has known for nine months. Idris’ 20-year-old daughter Talia is still awaiting a fair trial for her father.
