IAEA Chief To Visit Ukraine’s Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant

IAEA chief to visit Ukraine’s Chernobyl nuclear power plant soon, Ukraine expressed the danger of radiation.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Rafael Grassi is soon to visit Ukraine’s Chernobyl nuclear power plant for assistance.

He said he would assist Ukraine’s Chernobyl nuclear power plant as soon as possible and lead the aid mission.

Grassi tweeted Friday that it would be his first visit to ‘Mission Ukraine’ in a series of such nuclear security and security missions.

IAEA chief to visit Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant: Recently the Russian army relinquished control of the plant.

Grassi told a news conference in Vienna later on Friday that the IAEA mission would take place in Chernobyl “very soon”.

The IAEA chief recently returned from his recent visits to Ukraine and Russia, during which he also discussed ensuring the security of Ukraine’s nuclear facilities with officials from both sides.

The IEA said on Thursday that the agency had been informed by Ukraine that Russian forces were relinquishing control of the Chernobyl plant and that control of the plant was transferred to Ukrainian personnel.

Radiation has not yet been detected in the plant.

Grossi said yesterday that the IAEA was still unable to confirm reports that Russian forces at the Chernobyl plant were to blame for the radiation.

He said the radiation level around the plant was “quite normal” but why the Russian military left Chernobyl was not known.

At the same time, Ukraine claims that the Russian army has gone from here due to radiation.

Grassi further stated that there was a relatively high level of localized radiation due to heavy vehicular movement at the time of occupation of the plant and apparently the same could happen again along the way.

The Chernobyl plant, about 110 km north of the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, suffered one of the worst nuclear accidents in human history on April 26, 1986.
