Meanwhile, China’s unmanned helicopter takes off first plateau flight, capable of carrying 80 kg payload
The company said that during the 15-minute flight, the helicopter completed several tests including high-flying hovering and other operations. This helicopter can carry 80 kg payload and can fly for more than five hours.
China’s first indigenously built unmanned helicopter successfully completed its first flight into the plateau region on Sunday.
Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC), the state-run manufacturer of the helicopter, said on Monday that the AR-500C prototype completed the first plateau flight at Daocheng Yading Airport.
It is the highest civil airport in the world, situated at an altitude of 4,411 meters.
The company said that during the 15-minute flight, the helicopter completed several tests including high flying, hovering, walking, and other operations.
The AVIC issued a statement in May stating that the AR-500C would be used in various operations including reconnaissance and communication relays. This helicopter can carry 80 kg payload and can fly for more than five hours at an altitude of 4,411 meters.
