In April, 15900 companies were registered within the country, and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs gave information.

In April, 15,905 companies were registered in the country and a total of 14,51,401 companies were active till the end of last month. This information has been received from official figures.

The latest data released by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs showed that as of April 30, 2022, a total of 23,33,958 companies were registered under the Companies Act.

Of these, 8,29,269 companies were closed and 7,021 were in the process of liquidation.

Apart from these, 43,851 companies were in the process of delisting from official records and 2,416 companies had reached ‘dormant status’.

According to ministry data, there were 14,51,401 active companies at the end of April, including 2,53,131 companies within the last 18 months.

“During April 2022, a total of 15,905 companies including 851 One Person Companies (OPCs) were registered under the Companies Act, 2013 with an authorized capital of Rs 2,316.52 crore,” the ministry said.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs is implementing the Companies Act. In his message, Corporate Affairs Secretary Rajesh Verma has highlighted various aspects of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC).

He said there is currently no standard framework to track the consequences of insolvency and bankruptcy arrangements other than the World Bank Doing Business Report and this too was recently discontinued.

“Therefore, it is important to study the impact of the insolvency framework created by the IBC and conduct a SWOT analysis to examine its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats on a regular basis,” he added.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday attended the meeting of the National Startup Advisory Council.
