India and Japan are ready to strengthen defense ties, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar talks to his counterpart.

India and Japan have started a period of serious discussion to take the mutual defense relationship to a new level.

Steps will be taken to implement it this year, which was agreed in the two plus two talks between the two countries last year.

The talks between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Japan’s Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa on Friday focused on various aspects of defense ties.

Both countries are members of the Quad (a four-nation organization formed together with America, Australia) and military exercises are also held every year between these four.

70th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

India and Japan are celebrating the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations this year. This was also discussed in the talks between Jaishankar and Yoshimasa.

Along with this, discussions were also held to further strengthen economic ties, defense ties.

It is believed that soon the talks between the Defense Ministers of the two countries will decide the direction of defense agreements.

Can use each other’s military bases.

India and Japan have implemented the Acquisition and Cross Servicing Agreement (ACSA) from July 2021, after which the military forces of both countries will be able to assist each other on a more comprehensive level.

Armies on both sides will also be able to use each other’s military bases. Now talks are taking place between the two countries on how to implement ACSA at the ground level.

Focus on unmanned military vehicles.

Sources say that India and Japan are discussing cooperation in the field related to military use of state-of-the-art technology.

Particular attention is being paid to the field of unmanned military vehicles and robotics. It is believed that soon India will become a major military ally of Japan like America and Britain.

There are constant discussions between the two countries in the Indo-Pacific region.

Also talk to counterparts of Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil

According to the media, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held separate talks with his counterparts in the Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil on Friday.

Bilateral and regional issues were discussed during this.

Jaishankar tweeted that he discussed with the Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of the Netherlands Wopke Hoekstra to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, the European Union (EU), and the Indo-Pacific region.

Jaishankar held a virtual review of bilateral relations with Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero. The Foreign Minister said that he also had talks with Brazilian Foreign Minister Carlos Franco.
