Jaiswal stated, “We are seeing several attacks by radicals against minorities as well as their homes and businesses.” “Such incidents must be handled quickly and sternly.”

India’s statement comes amid growing concerns about the safety of minorities in Bangladesh. The MEA emphasized that attributing these incidents to external influences only undermines efforts to restore peace and security.

Concern Over External Interference

India also expressed concern regarding attempts by certain Bangladeshi voices to link communal incidents to foreign actors. Jaiswal stated that such narratives distract from addressing the core governance and law-and-order issues. India insists that the Bangladesh government assume full responsibility for the protection of minorities and maintain law and order.

The MEA further highlighted that public figures from other countries should respect the independence of the judiciary in democratic nations, referencing New York City Council Member Zohran Mamdani’s letter to Umar Khalid’s family in the US.

CPEC and Regional Geopolitics

In addition to addressing communal violence, India reaffirmed its opposition to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Jaiswal stressed that the corridor is illegal and invalid, as it passes through territory under Indian claim but controlled by Pakistan.

He stated, “India has never recognized the 1963 boundary agreement between China and Pakistan.” He added, “The so-called CPEC crossing into Indian territory under Pakistani control is illegal.”

This position underscores India’s continued focus on safeguarding its territorial integrity, particularly in regions such as the Shaksgam Valley, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh.

3. Venezuela and Iran: India continues to closely monitor developments in Venezuela, Colombia, and Iran, ensuring support for Indian nationals in the region.
