India beat West Indies by 6 wickets, take 1-0 lead in series: Ind vs WI 1st T20.

Team India defeated West Indies by 6 wickets in the first match of the three-match T20 series at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata on Wednesday.

Team India won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, the West Indies team scored 157 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs.

Team India was given a target of 158 runs. In reply, India scored 162 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 18.5 overs.

Team India’s batting, Venkatesh Iyer won by hitting a six.

Captain Rohit Sharma along with Ishan Kishan got Team India off to a great start. Both added 64 runs in 7.3 overs. The first blow came in the form of Rohit Sharma.

He was dismissed for 40 off 19 balls by Ruston Chase. The second blow came in the form of Ishaan Kishan. Chase dismissed him for 35.

In the very next over, Virat Kohli was sent to the pavilion by Fabian Allen for 17 runs.

Rishabh Pant was dismissed for eight by Sheldon Cottrell. Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten on 34 and Venkatesh Iyer on 24. Iyer got the win by hitting a six.

West Indies did not start well. The team was dealt a blow in the very first over. Bhuvneshwar Kumar sent Brendan King to the pavilion for 4 runs.

The second blow to the team came in the form of Kyle Meyers. He returned to the pavilion after scoring 31 runs off Yajuvendra Chahal.

The third blow came in the form of Ruston Chase. Ravi Bishnoi sent him to the pavilion for 4 runs. Soon after, the team suffered the fourth blow.

Ravi Bishnoi sent Rovman Powell to the pavilion for two runs. Deepak Chahar gave the fifth blow to the Windies by dismissing Aqeel Hossein for five runs.

Harshal Patel gave the sixth blow to the Windies by dismissing Nicholas Pooran for 61. Odeon Smith was dismissed for 4 runs off the last ball of the 20th over. Harshal Patel dismissed him.

Kieron Pollard remained unbeaten on 24. Ravi Bishnoi made his mark in his first international match by taking two wickets. Fast bowler Harshal Patel also took two wickets but proved costly.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Singh Chahal, and Deepak Chahar, who returned to the Indian team, took one wicket each.

Young spinner Ravi Vishnoi has got a chance to debut for Team India in this match. Talking about the West Indies, Kieron Pollard could not play two matches in the three-match series due to injury.

In such a situation, he has returned to the team. Due to Corona, all three matches of the series will be played at the Eden Gardens Stadium.

It is worth noting that the hosts led by Rohit Sharma had a great performance in the ODI series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and made a clean sweep of the visiting team 3-0.
