India & China: 13th round of talks between India-China military commanders begins in Eastern Ladakh.

The 13th round of high-level military talks is underway to end the ongoing standoff between India and China in eastern Ladakh.

In the meantime, the focus will be on some progress in the withdrawal process of troops from the remaining places of confrontation in eastern Ladakh.

The talks began at 10.30 am today at the Moldo border point on the Chinese side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

It is expected from these talks that the Indian side will demand the early withdrawal of troops from the remaining places of confrontation.

The 12th round of talks between the two countries was held on 31 July.

There has been a standoff between the armies of India and China for almost 17 months in many areas along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.

By the way, after several rounds of talks, the two sides have backed out from many places of conflict this year.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in his weekly briefing, “It is our hope that China will work on resolving the problem at the earliest.”

He expressed hope that China will also take care of bilateral relations and protocol in eastern Ladakh.

However, when asked for comments on the overall situation in eastern Ladakh on Saturday, Gen Naravane referred to the recent remarks of the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson.

He said that he has clearly mentioned that whatever has happened on the northern border is due to massive military build-up and non-compliance of various protocols on the part of China.
