India Slammed Pakistan Again In UNGA On Terrorism

India slammed Pakistan again in UNGA, said – India suffering from terrorism on the border. In the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, India has once again slammed Pakistan over terrorism.

Yedla Umashankar, the first secretary / legal advisor of India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, said that India has been suffering from terrorism on the border and it is still continuing.

He said that we have experienced the worst form of organized crime and terrorism internationally. The United Nations needs to coordinate with agencies such as the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to counter-terrorism.

Addressing the ‘Measures to remove international terrorism’, Yedla Umashankar said that our country strongly condemns every form of terrorism.

The fight against terrorism should not only focus on eradicating terrorists and destroying terrorist organizations/networks, but also the accountability of those who encourage support, and fund terrorism.

He further stressed that contact between terrorists and their supporters should be exposed and destroyed. India has urged the United Nations to revive its energy to play a greater role in combating terrorism, maintaining international peace and security.

He appealed to the United Nations and its members to consider the rights of victims of terrorism and to comply with their obligations under international law. He said that the threat of international terrorism is very big.

We need an international mechanism to ensure accountability and justice among member states, increase dialogue and understanding, which can increase enforcement efforts to destroy the safe havens of terrorists, their financial flows, and their support networks.

Pakistan to clash with India in EU on Basmati rice will oppose the application of GI tag

Pakistan has decided to oppose India’s application for specific Geographical Indications (GI) tag to Basmati rice in the European Union (EU). Products from a particular region get special recognition from the GI tag.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Commerce Affairs Advisor Razak Dawood on Monday.

The meeting was attended by the Commerce Secretary, the President of the Intellectual Property Organization, the representatives of the Rice Export Association of Pakistan (REAP), and people associated with the legal sector.

At the meeting, representatives of REAP believed that Pakistan is a major producer of basmati rice and India’s claim of exclusivity is unfair.

While India has stated in its application that Basmati rice is a product of Indian origin. The application was published in the official journal of the European Union on 11 September.
