India Will Get 122 Unicorns In The Next Few Years

India will get 122 unicorns in the next few years, the country has 51 ‘Gazelles’ and 71 ‘Cheetahs’.

Despite the ongoing slowdown in funding activities, the number of ‘unicorns’ or startup companies with a valuation of over $1 billion will cross 200 in the next four years.

This possibility has been expressed in a report. However, the report says that at present, Indian startups are not getting financed fast due to the liquidity challenges arising around the world.

Despite this, the number of startups achieving unicorn status will continue to grow.

In a report released by Hurun Research Institute on Wednesday, it was said that the number of unicorn companies in the country is currently 84, compared to only 51 a year ago.

Along with this, there are also 122 such startups whose size is currently more than $ 200 million but in the next two-four years, they have every possibility of becoming a unicorn.

The combined capital of all these companies is currently $ 49 billion.

According to the report, among Indian startup companies, venture capital firm Sequoia is the most invested capital. Of these 122 startups, 39 have received funding from Sequoia.

India will get 122 unicorns: India has 51 gazelles and 71 cheetahs.

According to Hurun’s report, India currently has 51 gazelles. Gazelle are those startups that will become a unicorn (a company with a valuation of $1 billion) in the next 2 years.

At the same time, the language of startups is called Cheetah, which will become a unicorn in the next 4 years.

Hurun says that the basis of this claim is information given by those companies to the regulator and feedback from other entrepreneurs and some angel investors.

Which companies can soon become unicorns.

According to Hurun’s report, Zomato-backed logistics startup Shiprocket, quick commerce company Zapto, electric vehicle maker Ather mobility startup Rapido and Ninjakart are strong contenders.

Of these 122 companies, 15 co-founders are women while 5 startups are headed by women.

The average age of startup found in India is 38 years. The youngest entrepreneurs are Kewalya Vohra (19) and Adit Palicha (20) of Zepto. While the oldest startup founder Ecom Express’s K. Satyanarayan.
