Indian Air Force Warplanes can land on NH in J&K. Now warplanes will land on the highway in Kashmir, it will take a few minutes to reach LoC-LAC.
In the event of war with China and Pakistan or any other emergency, Indian Air Force warplanes can land on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway in South Kashmir at any time.
For this, about three and a half kilometers long runway (road runway) is almost ready. Its work is in the final stages. Only trial landing of the planes is pending.
The airstrip built along the Srinagar-Jammu Highway-44 is at Bijbihara. Here warplanes can easily land and take off.
From here it will take very little time to reach the Line of Control and the Line of Actual Control. In the event of war, this belt will prove to be effective for the army, air force, and other security agencies.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had dedicated a road runway to the nation on Thursday by Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in Barmer, adjacent to Pakistan’s border in Rajasthan.
The thickness of the road runway is more:
Regarding the road runway in South Kashmir, the officials concerned said that the National Highway Authority has prepared it with the help of Air Force experts.
On the part of the highway on which the runway has been prepared, the use of construction material is different.
The thickness of the road runway is slightly more than the other part of the road so that there is no problem in landing or taking off from the aircraft.
120 crores have been spent in preparing this strip on the highway from Bijbihara to Chinarbagh.
Airstrip allowed only at 12 places:
In the year 2016, the Union Ministry of Surface Transport constituted a joint committee of the Defense Ministry and the Air Force to explore the possibilities of developing airstrips on the highway.
The committee had given its first report in 2017.
Initially, it was decided to set up airstrips at 29 identified places on National Highways in different parts of the country, but the Air Force had given consent at only 12 places.
These airstrips include Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Manipur, and West Bengal.
Three airstrips were to Odia, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh and two to Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in southern India.
A senior army officer based in Srinagar said that the runway facility for aircraft on the highway is not unusual. Ships like Sukhoi and An-32 Globemaster can land and take off on Agra Expressway.
Air Force will get force: The use of the road runway built in Bijbihara has been prepared to keep in mind mainly China and Pakistan.
From this runway, it will take about one to one and a half minutes for warplanes to fly in the sky against the enemy.
The next moment he will be fighting his enemy aircraft and or will be across the LoC in the next three minutes and the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh in four to five minutes.
