Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over the tank to the army at an event here on Sunday. After handing over the advanced class Arjun Tank MK-1A to the Army.
The Prime Minister said it is also a symbol of India’s united spirit, as armored vehicles manufactured in South India will protect the country’s northern borders.
The Prime Minister also took the salute of the state-of-the-art tank after handing over the replica model of the tank to Army Chief General MN Narwane.
This tank is completely indigenous. Work from its design to development and manufacturing has been done in the country itself. The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has developed it.
Tamil Nadu becomes the hub of tank construction in India
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said, ‘I am proud to hand over the indigenously designed and built Arjun Main Battle Tank (MK-1A). It also uses indigenous ammunition.
Tamil Nadu is already the automobile manufacturing hub of India, now I see Tamil Nadu developing as a tank manufacturing hub of India.
The Prime Minister said that the tank built in Tamil Nadu will monitor the northern borders to keep the country safe. This is a true demonstration of ‘Bharat Ekta Darshan’, the spirit of unity of the country.
He said that we will continue to work to make our army the most modern army in the world. Along with this, work will also be done on making India self-reliant in the defense sector.
