Indian Navy deploys P-8I aircraft on the western coast of Goa, will keep an eye on the activity of Pak and Chinese Navy.
Indian Navy has deployed P-8I aircraft on the western coast of Goa. This aircraft has been deployed amid increasing activities of Pakistan and Chinese navies in the Arabian Sea and adjoining sea areas.
The P-8I is a frontline anti-submarine and surveillance aircraft. After its deployment, espionage capabilities in the area will get a boost.
According to an Indian Navy spokesperson, “Boeing P-8I aircraft of the Indian Navy commenced operations from INS Hansa in Goa on Tuesday, with two aircraft arriving on December 30, 2021.”
The Navy said the aircraft has been inducted after being fitted with indigenous equipment and flight acceptance tests.
Indian Navy deploys P-8I aircraft: The Indian Navy acquired the first batch of eight P-8I aircraft in 2013. These aircraft have been deployed at INS Rajali, Arakkonam.
According to the Navy, “The second batch of four additional aircraft will be based at Indian Naval Air Squadron 316, which will be inducted at INS Hansa.”
For some time now, Pakistani and Chinese navies have been making a lot of agreements along with joint exercises in the area.
The Indian Navy’s move to deploy the P-8I surveillance aircraft is seen as a significant step in this backdrop. The P-8I aircraft was received by two MiG-29K naval fighters at the naval airport in Goa.
