Indian Navy’s retired Vice Admiral SH Sharma passed away, celebrated his hundredth birthday on 1st Dec.
Vice Admiral SH Sharma, who led the Eastern Command of the Navy in the 1971 war against Pakistan, died here on Monday at the age of 100.
He breathed his last at around 6.20 pm at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
In the 1971 war, Sharma was the Flag Officer Commanding of the Eastern Fleet. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled his death by tweeting.
Patnaik said, “Saddened by the news of the passing away of Vice-Admiral SH Sharma, one of the great sons of Odisha.

His family issued a statement saying that his body would be brought to his residence on Tuesday where people would be able to pay his last respects. The funeral will take place on January 5.
Vice Admiral Sharma celebrated his 100th birth anniversary on December 1.
However, a Navy spokesman said he had turned 99 that day. Recently he also participated in the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations of Azadi in Delhi.
Deoband’s ATS battalion will hit hard on terrorism, know its specialty.
In view of the continuous terrorist activities in Deoband town of Saharanpur district of western Uttar Pradesh, the state government has decided to set up an ATS battalion, so that this stain can be washed off from the forehead of Deoband.
The Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone of the ATS Battalion on Tuesday. 15 IPS officers will be posted in that center. Apart from this, more than 150 commandos will be present here at all times.

To prevent terrorist activities in Uttar Pradesh, the state government had decided to set up small units of ATS in Meerut, Aligarh, Shravasti, Bahraich, Azamgarh, Kanpur, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, and Deoband of Saharanpur.
Out of which, due to the non-availability of land in Deoband, it took time to clear the way for the ATS battalion.
Later it was decided to open an ATS battalion in the vacant land of the Department of Small, Cottage, and Medium Enterprises in Deoband.
