Indians living In Large Numbers In Some States Of America

Indians living in large numbers in some states of America will have the power to elect the President. Presidential elections are to be held in the US in November this year. The election is between two parties Republican and Democratic. Donald Trump is on the Republican side and Joe Biden on the Democratic side. Donald Trump is also currently the President of the United States. Because of this, he is fighting to continue in his post.

Meanwhile, Kamla Harris of Indian origin has been fielded for the post of Vice President in the election field by the Democratic Party. The election has brought a little thrill with Kamala Harris coming on the field. It is now being said that Kamala will work to support the voters of Indian origin living in the US in her favor and also ask for a vote for Biden on the presidency, so Biden will be more likely to win.

Now one thing is also being said that the voters of Indian origin who reside on a large scale in some states of America, who vote for them, will be considered victorious. With this, it is now being multiplied that which states of America have more number of Indian voters so that they can influence the election. At the moment, all this is a multiplication of political wings.

The increasing Indian population in America

The population of America is about 32.82 crores. While the number of immigrants is around 45 million. In 2000, the number of people of Indian origin in America was 16 lakh 78 thousand 765. It increased sharply to 28 lakh 43 thousand 391 in 2012. During this period, the number of Indians in New York, Northern New Jersey, Lound Island metro area increased to 5 lakh 26 thousand 133. In 2010, the population of Indians was 31 lakh 83 thousand 63. In 2017 it increased to 44 lakh 2 thousand 363.

The report of South Asian American Leading Together (Salt) states that 6 lakh 30 thousand Indians are living here illegally. The visas of all these people have expired. According to the Current Population Survey – 49.9% of Asian countries voted in the 2016 US election. While the number of South Asian-origin voters was 2 million in 2001, it increased to 50 lakh in 2016. 1.5 million of them are Indians. The number of voters of Pak origin is 2 lakh 22 thousand 252 while Bangladeshi is 69,825.

Texas, Florida, Ohio and Colorado State will play a big role

The states of Florida, Ohio, and Colorado can play an important role in the US presidential election. The special thing is that the number of people of the Indian community in these states is around 30-40%. In such a situation, these Indian-American voters can make a huge difference in the election.

Texas is the second-largest state in the US. If we talk about the voters here, about 4 percent of the voters are of Asian descent (as of 2018), with a majority of the voters in the Indian community. If we talk freshly, both the Congressmen (MPs), governors in Texas belong to the Republican Party but it has always been the stronghold of the Democrats. Apart from this, there is also a special figure that in 2016, when Donald Trump was standing for the US presidential election, he lost his party in Texas.

Donald Trump won the presidential candidacy because of an edge across America. After that, when the contest was between Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton, Trump won 52% and Hillary 43%. If you look at the data of the last few elections, the attitude of the Asian-Indian voters has always been towards the Democrats, in such a way, the efforts of the Republican Party are always trying to woo them.

Trump was trying to woo Indian voters

In the 2016 election too, during his campaign, President Donald Trump tried to woo Indians by giving slogans like Trump government, I love Hinduism, I love Modi. Anyway, Trump has told the people living in America that he has a special love for Indians. Now Biden has also taken bets in the same way. He has given the responsibility of turning the voters on his side by making Indian-origin Kamala Harris the vice-presidential candidate.
