It increased sharply to 28 lakh 43 thousand 391 in 2012. During this period, the number of Indians in New York, Northern New Jersey, Lound Island metro area increased to 5 lakh 26 thousand 133. In 2010, the population of Indians was 31 lakh 83 thousand 63. In 2017 it increased to 44 lakh 2 thousand 363.

The report of South Asian American Leading Together (Salt) states that 6 lakh 30 thousand Indians are living here illegally. The visas of all these people have expired. According to the Current Population Survey – 49.9% of Asian countries voted in the 2016 US election. While the number of South Asian-origin voters was 2 million in 2001, it increased to 50 lakh in 2016. 1.5 million of them are Indians. The number of voters of Pak origin is 2 lakh 22 thousand 252 while Bangladeshi is 69,825.

Texas, Florida, Ohio and Colorado State will play a big role
