ITBP personnel honored for showing courage against China.

260 ITBP personnel were on Sunday awarded the Union Home Minister’s ‘Special Operations Medal’ for their outstanding services during the military standoff with the Chinese Army (PLA) in eastern Ladakh.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification informing about giving this award to a total of 397 personnel of police and central forces of various states.

An ITBP spokesperson said that the award was given to the personnel of the force for the indomitable courage and devotion to duty shown by them in Eastern Ladakh from May 2020 to February this year.

260 ITBP personnel have been awarded, which is the highest award received by any police force in one go.

The awardees also included Inspector General Dipam Seth, former Commander of North-West Frontier of ITBP based in Leh.

The ITBP, with about 90,000 personnel, was formed in 1962 in the wake of Chinese aggression.

This force is mainly responsible for the security of the 3,488-km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China. Some of its posts on the LAC are located at an altitude of 18,800 feet.

Armies will foil the conspiracies of China and Pakistan.

Indian forces are doing their duty very well. This was stated by the Chief of Security Forces (CDS) General Bipin Rawat.

General Rawat was speaking at the Sardar Patel Memorial Lecture Series on All India Radio.

He said the Indian security forces have to remain vigilant throughout the year on land and sea borders due to the conspiracies of China and Pakistan to maintain regional instability.

At the same time, he said that when security forces are ignored, then outside forces take advantage of it. The result of this was the Chinese attack on the country in 1962.

Even after 1962, China tried to enter the Indian border several times. Whenever the army got strong support from the government, then China was pushed back.

Indian forces are ready at all times to protect the borders of the country.
