Jaishankar Addressed The EU Ministerial Forum On Indo-Pacific

Jaishankar addressed the EU Ministerial Forum on Indo-Pacific in Paris, said- responsibility and restraint should also be developed along with the capacity.

External Affairs Minister S. Referring to the challenges of the Indo-Pacific region, Jaishankar said that along with strength and capability, responsibility and restraint should also be developed.

He cautioned the 27-nation grouping that the current challenges of the Indo-Pacific region could extend to Europe because being away does not necessarily mean that you are safe.

Although the foreign minister did not name any country, he was referring to the increasing aggression of China in the Indo-Pacific region.

Addressing the European Union (EU) Ministerial Forum on Indo-Pacific in Paris, Jaishankar said the forum is being hosted at a time when Europe is facing a serious crisis (in Ukraine).

It underscores the EU’s engagement with the Indo-Pacific region.

In the presence of the top leadership of several countries including the European Union, the Indian External Affairs Minister said, “The Indo-Pacific is the center of a multipolar and rebalancing system, which underlines contemporary change.”

Underscored the importance of the area.

Underlining the importance of the Indo-Pacific region, Jaishankar said, “It is necessary that along with strength and capability, responsibility and restraint should also be developed.”

It means respect for international law, territorial integrity, and sovereignty, and freeing the economy from coercion and the political from the dangers of the use of force.

It means to abide by global rules and avoid claiming common things globally. Jaishankar said the EU strategy is in line with India’s vision of a free, open, balanced, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

India welcomes the commitment of the EU to contribute to the security of the region.

The External Affairs Minister also mentioned the strengthening of relations between India and France during this period.
