Jharkhand Police, which is running a campaign against extremists in the state, will now run a poster war in forest areas. Police will seek cooperation from common people by putting up posters related to such extremists in forest areas including their villages and homes.
At present, the number of absconding and wanted extremists in the state is 69. The government has placed a reward on them. These include four extremists with a reward of Rs 1 crore each and six extremists with a reward of Rs 25 lakh each. The police will also appeal to their relatives to motivate them to join the mainstream under the surrender cum rehabilitation policy of the state government.
This poster war of the police against Naxalites-extremists was run earlier also. The purpose behind this is that the general public should also be aware of this campaign of the police and cooperate with the administration.
After the arrest of Dinesh Gop, Martin Kerketta, the self-proclaimed regional commander with a reward of Rs. 15 lakhs who has taken over the reins of the banned People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI), has become a headache for the police.
