Kallakurichi Violence: Violence erupts over the death of a student in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi, protesters set buses on fire.

Violence erupted in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi on Sunday over the death of a Class 12 student at a school. Protesters demanding justice set buses on fire and vandalized school property.

Chief Minister MK Stalin on learning about the violence said that the accused would be punished. They will not be abandoned. The DGP and Home Secretary have been asked to visit the spot.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu School Education Department has ordered the Chief Education Officer of Kallakurichi to submit a detailed report on the incident.

A student died due to natural causes – DGP.

Tamil Nadu DGP C Silendra Babu on Kallakurichi violence said, “The schoolgirl died of natural causes. We have registered the case. The parents have again approached the High Court for a post-mortem.

He said, “A small group of people came to the school to protest. We made arrangements but they had gathered a large number of people.

No one will be spared- DGP.

DGP C Silendra Babu said, “Instead of peaceful protest, they started attacking. Had to lathi charge.

Now, 500 police personnel have been added. We want to arrest all the accused who attacked a school. No one will be spared. We also have videos.

The accused will be punished- CM.

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin on Kallakurichi violence tweeted, ‘Violence worries me. The accused will be punished when the police investigation of the death of the girl student is over.

I have asked DGP, Home Secretary to visit Kallakurichi. I request people to maintain peace.

Karnataka Flood: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai reviews floods, and will seek central assistance after assessing the damage

Following heavy rains and floods in parts of Karnataka, CM Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday said the state would seek financial assistance from the center after receiving a detailed report on the damage.

After taking stock of the situation here, the Chief Minister informed the journalists about this.

He said, “In view of the heavy rains and floods, the state will seek financial assistance from the central government after receiving a detailed report of the damages.

Due to the intermittent rains across the state, many houses have collapsed or were partially damaged.

There have been losses, and farmers have suffered. There has been heavy crop loss and some areas have been flooded.

The government has taken rescue and relief measures and is distributing compensation for damaged houses.”
