PM Modi, Rajnath Singh, and President Murmu Pay Tribute to Brave Martyrs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid their respects to the servicemen who lost their lives in the Kargil War of 1999 on Saturday, July 26, 2025.. Remembering their sacrifice, both leaders emphasized the courage and determination shown by the Indian Armed Forces during the conflict.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted that Kargil Vijay Diwas is a solemn reminder of the extraordinary bravery and patriotism displayed by the soldiers. He said the indomitable spirit and selfless service of the martyrs will continue to inspire future generations.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also paid homage, stating, “On this Kargil Vijay Diwas, I salute the courageous warriors who upheld the nation’s honor even in the harshest of circumstances.” He noted that their supreme sacrifice remains a testament to the unwavering dedication of the armed forces.
“On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I bow to the brave soldiers who gave their lives for our nation,” President Droupadi Murmu said in her homage. Their unmatched courage and commitment will forever remain etched in our hearts.” She concluded her message with patriotic words: “Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!”
Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed annually on July 26 to mark India’s triumph in the 1999 Kargil War, celebrating the valour and sacrifice of the country’s armed forces.
Samba is called the land of heroes, for this many brave soldiers of the district have sacrificed their lives. From the independence of the country till today, many soldiers have sacrificed their lives in all small and big wars.
During the Kargil war between India and Pakistan in the year 1999, many brave soldiers sacrificed their lives and achieved victory. During this war, martyr soldier Lakhwinder Singh, son of the border area of Samba, sacrificed his life in the defense of the country.
Baladi Lakhwinder Singh was born in a family of soldiers. He was born on May 15, 1973, in Sarathi, a village in the Samba border area. He completed his primary education in the village and then started higher secondary education at the government school in Ghagwa, and while studying in class 11th, he joined the army in October 1990.
