Karnataka Masjid Controversy: Despite the imposition of Section 144, members of Hindu organizations gathered at Kirangur Junction, have called for worship in the mosque.
Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed in Srirangapatna town of Mandya district of Karnataka. This will be applicable from 6 am to 6 pm on Saturday.

Deputy commissioner Ashwathi S said that the weekly market which usually takes place every Saturday will not be held today.
He said that today a ban has been imposed on the sale of liquor in the 5 km range of Srirangapatna.

The deputy commissioner said, ‘Today the Masjid road has been closed. People are not allowed to enter the mosque. CCTV cameras have been installed to deal with any untoward incident.
A special team has been formed to keep an eye on suspicious activities.

Mandya SP said that rallies/processions/protests are not allowed in Srirangapatna Nagar Panchayat limits due to prohibitory orders imposed by the taluk administration.
Keeping this order in mind, we have ensured adequate arrangements in and around the town so that no untoward incident takes place.
Legal action will be taken for violating prohibitory orders.
He said that the city is completely calm now. It will remain the same in the coming days as well. We have made the necessary arrangements.

Hindu organizations claim that the mosque has been built on the ruins of a Hanuman temple. He also talked about approaching the court in this matter.
In this regard, Hindu organizations also submitted a memorandum to Mandya Deputy Commissioner Ashwathi S and demanded a survey of the mosque.
