It is worth noting that the Karnataka government had announced a compensation of Rs 5000 to the auto and cab drivers who suffered losses due to the lockdown distress.

For this, the Transport Department had also set up an online system, through which the process of applying the auto-cab driver online was decided.

Applications for compensation were sought from today in the Indus website, a service of the Government of Karnataka.

In Kerala today, ie on 2 March, various trade unions and owners associations in the transport sector called for a 12-hour long state-wide motor strike on the rising price of petrol and diesel in the state.

There is a continuous protest against the increase in fuel prices in the state. During this time a scene has emerged of Kochi, where private buses are not running and some KSRTC buses are plying with some passengers.

Due to this strike, taxis, autorickshaws, and private buses were off the roads throughout the state, due to which normal life was greatly affected.

Explain that the committee had requested all private vehicles to stay off the roads, although it clarified that they would not stop such vehicles.

At the same time, the pro-BJP union Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh distanced itself from this strike.

All other trade unions, including the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and the Center of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), have supported the strike.

All examinations have also been postponed to APJ Abdul Kalam University of Technology and Kerala, Kochi, Kannur, and Mahatma Gandhi Universities in view of the 12-hour strike of vehicles in the state.
