Kashmiri Pandits observe Black Day, know what happened in Kashmir in the year 1931: Jammu Kashmir.
In the year 1931, opposing elements launched a rebellion against the Dogra king in Kashmir and attacked the jail. Some opponents were killed in the defense action by the king’s army.
These supporters of the Islamic fundamentalists who went on the revolt also started attacking the Hindus living in the valley and gave a loss of life and property to the Kashmiri Pandits.
Therefore, this day is observed as Black Day by Kashmiri Pandits.
On Tuesday, activists of Panun Kashmir observed Black Day and protested against Islamic fundamentalists.
In a program held at the office here, the leaders of Panun Kashmir recalled the past days. Activists said that on this day in 1931, Kashmiri Pandits were oppressed in the Valley, their shops were burnt.
The people who created the riot were the same people who were opposing the Dogra rule.
Addressing the occasion, State President Virendra Raina said that the Islamic fundamentalists had waged a rebellion against the Dogra regime.
But regrettably, in the name of the rebels who died, the governments of Jammu and Kashmir have established Martyr’s Day and this day was a government holiday.
It exposes the intention of the governments here.
This Martyr’s Day holiday was abolished after Jammu and Kashmir became a Union Territory, but our Black Day will continue.
Because the elements who died in the rebellion of Dogra rule were not patriots. They attacked and looted the settlements of Kashmiri Pandits.
We will continue to celebrate Black Day every year against these people.
On the other hand, Upendra Kaul said that in 1931, insurgents attacked Kashmiri Pandits in Vichar Nag, Mehraj Ganj, Nawa Kadal, Kanikoot, Budgam and caused loss of life and property.
We can never forget this Islamic fundamentalism that committed atrocities against Kashmiri Pandits.
We celebrate this day every year as Black Day in protest against the revolt of the king in Jammu and Kashmir and those who persecuted Kashmiri Pandits and will continue to observe it.
PK Bhan, Kamal Bhagti, Vimala Charangu, Sameer Bhatt, SK Bhatt also gave their views on the occasion.
