CBI summons Karnataka Congress president

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar.

The agency has asked him to appear on 23 November in connection with the raids at his residence on 5 October.

The Congress leader says that he will appear before the investigating agency on 25 November.

On October 5, Rs 50 lakh cash was recovered during a raid on the residences of Shivkumar and his MP brother DK Suresh.

The raids were carried out at the residences at Doddalahalli, Kanakapura, and Sadashiv Nagar in Sivakumar’s Bengaluru.

The CBI had registered a case against the then minister on charges of disproportionate assets.

Thiruvananthapuram: There is confusion as to whether the Governor’s permission is required for the investigation against the Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala on the bar bribery allegation.

This is because Ramesh Chennithala was not a minister or a leader of the opposition at the time of the alleged bribery. The Raj Bhavan may seek legal advice in this regard if the Government’s request is received.
