Daulat Beg Oldi is considered the highest airstrip in the world. The Indian Air Force has been empowered to compete with China by building the world’s highest airstrip at an altitude of 16,730 feet in East Ladakh.

Indian Air Force aircraft can fly all year round from the airstrip. The video of the flight of the C 130 J Super Hercules aircraft from Daulat Beg Oldy Advance Landing ground went viral on Twitter on Monday.

The military capacity has increased manifold in East Ladakh with Daulat Beg Oldi being three advanced landing grounds.

Now the Indian Air Force can deliver tanks, artillery, and jawans to Ladakh from other parts of the country in just thirty minutes.

At present, all the small airplanes flying from the advance landing ground to meet the needs of the soldiers and airmen deployed in Ladakh are sending a message to the enemy that there is complete preparedness to fight.

Why is this place important

Daulat Beg Oldi i.e. this area of DBO is famous for this airstrip from the world. In this area, the landing of big size aircraft of the Indian Air Force was made three years ago.

Daulat Beg Oldi, located between Shyok and Karakoram due to its strategic importance, is known as the Advance Landing Ground of the Indian Air Force.

The airstrip was built in 1962

The Indian Air Force’s Super Hercules aircraft landed a few years ago on the airstrip of Daulat Beg Oldi, built during the 1962 Indo-China War. Apart from this, many big fighter ships were also landing here.

In such a situation, the Airforce can get a large advantage during the war due to old experiences of landing and operation on this airstrip.

16600 feet road will be helpful

The road connecting Daulat Beg Oldi to Shyok Valley and Darbuk is known as DSDBO Road. Leh and Karakoram join this road at about 16600 feet.
