Security forces on Saturday arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist at Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The terrorist also opened fire to escape from the security forces, but he was caught.

A police spokesman said that on the basis of specific information, the police along with the army personnel set up a Naka at Bijbehara.

The police had received news that a terrorist was about to come to a particular place in Bijbehara. The Naka party started monitoring the suspicious elements.

Around eight o’clock the night, the Naka party saw a young man coming in a suspicious condition.

As soon as the said youth saw the block, he turned back and started running. The soldiers posted at the block chased him.

On this, he fired at the soldiers with a pistol, but the soldiers, saving themselves, caught the terrorist with great intelligence.

The arrested terrorist has been identified as Sheer Ahmed Ganai. He is a resident of the Hasanpora Tabela area of ​​Bijbehara. He had joined Lashkar-e-Taiba sometime back. He is under interrogation.

Meanwhile, a police officer said on the condition of anonymity that during the interrogation of the said terrorist, much important information has been obtained.

Soon other helpers of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organization will also be caught. For this, various teams will be formed today.
