Local Hindu Businessman Shot Dead In Pakistan’s Sindh Province

Local Hindu businessman shot dead in Pakistan’s Sindh province.

A 44-year-old local Hindu businessman Sunil Kumar was shot dead by unidentified people at a grain market in Pakistan’s Sindh province.

The city was closed because of the murder. Later, on January 2, according to local media reports from Pakistan, a sit-in was held at a local police station demanding the immediate arrest of the killers.

The attack on Kumar is yet another example of continued atrocities against minorities, especially Hindus, Ahmadiyyas, and Christians, in Pakistan.

In recent years, there has been an increase in attacks on minorities and their places of worship in Pakistan.

The country has also been pulled up by the international community for not protecting the interests of minorities.

Pak legal fraternity threatens boycott over promotion of first woman Supreme Court judge

Pakistan’s legal fraternity has asked Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed to consider the elevation of Justice Ayesha A Malik to the Lahore High Court.

The legal fraternity has called for the postponement of Thursday’s meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) scheduled for January 6.

Boycott of court proceedings.

The Fraternity also said that if the meeting is not canceled, the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) and all bar associations will boycott all court proceedings, from the higher judiciary to the lower courts, Dawn News reported.

PBC Vice President Khushdil Khan announced

The announcement was made by Pakistan Legal Fraternity (PBC) Vice President Khushdil Khan and PBC Executive Committee Chairman Muhammad Masood Chishti and others after a representative meeting on Monday.

Uproar over women’s promotion.

A session of the JCP was called on Thursday, January 6, after the Chief Justice once again proposed Justice Ayesha A Malik’s name for promotion.

The last time this question came up before the JCP was on September 9, 2021.

The lack of consensus during an extended meeting forced the commission to postpone the appointment of Justice Malik, who is fourth in the LHC’s order of seniority, to the Supreme Court as the first woman judge in the country’s judicial history.
