Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi Is The New Chief Of Northern Command

Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi is the new Army Commander of Northern Command, has special expertise in anti-terrorist operations.

Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi has been made the new General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command of the Army.

He will take over this important responsibility from Northern Command Chief Lt Gen YK Joshi. He has also held important posts of GOC of the Nine Corps of the Western Command of the Army.

The tenure of the current Army Commander YK Joshi as GOC-in-C of the Northern Command ends on January 31.

In such a situation, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi will take over as the Army Commander of the Northern Command of the Army from February 1.

At present, General Dwivedi is posted as the Deputy Chief of the Army Staff at the Army Headquarters.

Before taking over as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi has also held an important post of GOC of the Nine Corps of the Army’s Western Command.

This Command is responsible for the security of the International Border in the Jammu Division.

Served in many important positions in the army.

An alumnus of the National Defense Academy, Lt Gen Dwivedi had joined the 18th Battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles in December 1984 as a young officer.

In his career spanning about 36 years, he has served in many important positions in the army.

Apart from combating terrorism in Kashmir, he also specializes in operations against anti-national elements in the North-Eastern states.

Tricolor hoisted proudly in Kashmir’s Ghantaghar Chowk, students gave colorful performances to the tunes of patriotism.

The Tricolor was hoisted proudly on the occasion of Republic Day today at Ghantaghar Chowk, located in the heart of Kashmir’s historic Lal Chowk, which is also known as the heart of Srinagar city.

Because this time Republic Day is special. The whole of India is in the 75th year of independence.

In such a situation, special arrangements were made at Lal Chowk in Srinagar to make the 73rd Republic Day memorable as the Amrit Festival of Independence.

A hydraulic crane was used to hoist the Indian flag over the clock tower.

Riding in it, social worker Sajid Yusuf belonging to Jammu and Kashmir Youth Society has hoisted the national flag with great pride along with his colleagues Sahil Bashir Butt.

Let us inform you here that on the occasion of Independence Day 2021, Ghantaghar Chowk was decorated with tricolor lights. Even then, the tricolor was hoisted on it with great pride.
