Major General Vikram Singh Is The New GOC Of Akhnoor Div

Major General Vikram Singh is the new GOC of Akhnoor Div, took over important responsibility by saluting the martyrs.

Major General Vikram Singh Sheikh on Thursday assumed command of the Army’s Crossed Swords Division at Akhnoor in Jammu district.

This vital division of the Army’s Northern Command is handling the security of the Line of Control from Akhnoor in Jammu district to Nowshera in Rajouri district.

At present, Akhnoor Div is strictly denying conspiracies to infiltrate from across the border and send drugs and weapons through drones.

The Line of Actual Control may not be firing from Pakistan at the moment, but the infrastructure to support cross-border terrorism remains intact.

On Thursday, Major General Vikram Singh took over the command of GOC from Major General Rajiv Gadhihok at the Crossed Swords Division Headquarters at Akhnoor.

After this, he saluted the soldiers who have made sacrifices in the wars fought with Pakistan and counter-terrorist operations at the Akhnoor War Memorial.

After taking over the command of Div, the new GOC asked the officers and jawans to maintain their tradition of gallantry. He asked to face every conspiracy of the enemy firmly.

Major General Vikram Singh Sheikho, who has a lot of experience in counter-terrorist operations and border guarding, is an officer of the Army’s Jammu and Kashmir Rifles.

The Akhnoor Division is one of the important military divisions of the army which is always on the fore to take the land from Pakistan.

Former Army Chief General Bikram Singh has also commanded this div. Akhnoor Division was formed on 1st April 1965.

The officers and jawans of this division displayed exceptional valor during the Indo-Pakistan Wars of 1965 and 1971. Along with protecting the border, this division is also ahead in helping the frontiers.

In view of strategic threats, emphasis on ‘Make in India’ in India’s defense budget.

The share of the defense sector in the Union Budget for the year 2022-23 is Rs 5,25,166 crore. This amount is about 13 percent of the total finance budget for 2022-23.

The total defense budget for the year 2021-22 was Rs 4,78,196 crore. In this way, the defense budget was increased by about 9.8 percent.

Along with this, special emphasis has been given to ensuring self-reliance in the manufacture of military equipment to find a long-term solution to the ongoing strategic challenges along the border.
