Malegaon Blast Verdict: All Accused, Including Sadhvi Pragya Acquitted After 17 Years

All accused, including Sadhvi Pragya, an acquitted, the NIA special court gives a verdict after 17 years. NIA special court has given a big verdict in the Malegaon blast case today. The court has acquitted all 7 accused, including Sadhvi Pragya, in the case.

While reading the verdict, the judge of the NIA court said, “The prosecution proved that there was an explosion in Malegaon, but it could not prove that a bomb was kept in that motorcycle. The court has concluded that the age of the injured was not 101 but 95 years, and some medical certificates were tampered with.”

Malegaon Blast Verdict: Six killed in explosion

On 29 September 2008, people were busy in the month of Ramzan and the Navratri festival. At around 9:35 pm, a bomb blast took place at Bhikhu Chowk in Malegaon. Smoke and screams of people were heard all around. 6 people died on the spot. More than 100 people were injured. Malegaon in Nashik district is a Muslim area.

The court had reserved the order on 19 April

The court had reserved the verdict against all seven accused on 19 April after a 17-year-long trial. 8 May was fixed as the date for pronouncing the verdict.

All the accused were ordered to appear on this day, but then the court fixed 31 July as the date for pronouncing the verdict.

Seven accused will appear in court today

The investigation of this case was handed over to the then-chief of Maharashtra ATS and martyred IPS officer Hemant Karkare. He had filed a charge sheet against a total of 12 accused, of whom the court acquitted five.

Today (Thursday), the verdict has come on Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit (retired), Major Ramesh Upadhyay (retired), Sameer Kulkarni, Ajay Rahirkar, Sudhakar Dhar Dwivedi alias Dayanand Pandey, and Sudhakar Chaturvedi.
