Many private schools on the verge of closure in Karnataka due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Private Schools Association of Karnataka has said that private schools in the state are facing a severe financial crisis during the Corona period.
Some schools have been closed due to non-payment of fees by parents. It has been decided to close private schools in Karnataka till December.
Speaking to media, association president Shashi Kumar said, ‘Teachers are giving their best for online classes, but we are unable to give them even the minimum salary.’ He said that no help is being received from the government.
More than 60 percent of the parents have not paid their children’s fees. There are more than 20,000 schools in the state and of these, around 18,000 are private schools dependent on monthly fees.
Due to the Corona epidemic, private schools in the state are closed till December. The government had decided to keep the schools closed till December following the recommendation of the Technical Advisory Committee.
Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa said, ‘Experts have said that we should not take any decision to open the school by the end of December. We will meet again and take timely appropriate decisions regarding the situation.
On Tuesday, 1,330 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Karnataka. With this, the number of infected in the state has increased to 8 lakh 86 thousand 227.
According to the state Health and Family Welfare Department, 14 deaths related to the coronavirus have been recorded in 24 hours and 886 people have also recovered during this period.
The health department said that 23,709 active cases of corona virus have been registered in the state till Tuesday.
Altogether 8 lakh 50 thousand 707 people have recovered from the infection, while 11,792 people have lost their lives due to the virus so far.
Last week, Karnataka’s Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. K Sudhakar said that the state has started taking necessary action for the delivery of the corona vaccine as per the advice of the Indian government.
