India’s decades-long battle against Maoist terrorism has reached a historic turning point. According to the latest data from the Home Ministry, the menace that once plagued 182 districts in 2014 has now been confined to just 11 districts as of October 2025. The Ministry expressed optimism that by March 31, 2026, the infamous Red Corridor will finally cease to exist.

Decades of Naxal Suffering Ending: Maoism Now Limited to 11 Districts:

For over five decades, countless districts and villages suffered under the shadow of Naxalism. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, these areas are witnessing unprecedented development and transformation. Villages that once symbolized fear and violence are now being recognized for progress and growth, marking a turning point in India’s fight against Maoist terrorism.

303 Naxal Cadres Surrender in 75 Hours

The Home Ministry confirmed that 303 Naxal cadres have surrendered within the past 75 hours, a remarkable milestone in recent years. Highlighting this progress, PM Modi stated that the day is near when the country will be entirely free from Naxalism. He further added that this year, Diwali will be celebrated in its true spirit in regions previously affected by Maoist violence, symbolizing freedom and security.

PM Modi Criticizes the Congress Party: Maoism Now Limited to 11 Districts

Addressing the public, PM Modi criticized the Congress party, accusing it of nurturing an ecosystem of urban Naxalites during its rule. He claimed that these urban Naxalites actively tried to suppress news of Maoist terrorism to prevent the public from learning the truth. The Prime Minister recalled instances where victims of Naxal attacks came to the national capital pleading for attention.

“These victims were farmers, tribal brothers and sisters, mothers, and children who suffered amputations, lost eyes, and endured unimaginable hardships,” PM Modi said. “Despite holding press conferences, their stories were largely ignored. Congress ensured that the nation remained unaware of their suffering.”

Maoist Terrorism’s Wounds and the Struggle for Justice

PM Modi emphasized that Maoist violence had left deep scars across the country. At one point, almost every state faced threats from Naxal groups, and even the Constitution seemed absent in the Red Corridor. Governments were elected, yet they lacked legitimacy in these regions. Stepping outside after dusk was dangerous, and public safety officials often had to work under extreme security measures. Over the past 50-55 years, thousands of civilians and security personnel lost their lives to Maoist terrorism.

The Prime Minister reiterated that those who “dance with the Constitution on their heads” continue to protect the interests of Maoist terrorists, who reject India’s Constitution. He stressed that eliminating this menace required unwavering vigilance, decisive governance, and development-led strategies that replaced fear with growth.

A Turning Point for India

Today, the fight against Maoism has reached a decisive stage. With only 11 districts left under the influence of Naxalism, India is on the brink of a historic victory. The focus is now on transforming the Red Corridor into a region of development, education, and economic progress. This milestone signifies not just a reduction in violence, but a promise of safety, prosperity, and hope for citizens long affected by Maoist terrorism.

The Prime Minister’s vision reflects a commitment to a Maoist-free India, where development replaces fear, and the Constitution governs every inch of the country. With continued cooperation between the government, security forces, and local communities, the elimination of the Red Corridor is no longer a distant dream but a near-future reality.
