Meteorological Department issued heavy rain warning in these parts of India: Weather Update. The Meteorological Department of India (IMD) forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next four-five days over coastal Andhra Pradesh (AP), Telangana, Maharashtra, parts of Gujarat, coastal and northern interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe.

A well-marked low-pressure area was reported to be adjacent to the Bay of West Bengal and the northern AP coast. It is expected to move west and northwest across Telangana during the next two-three days. The monsoon trough is located south of its normal state from Ganganagar to the Bay of Bengal in western Rajasthan.

Its eastern end is expected to remain south of its normal position until Thursday (17 September). At the same time, an offshore trough is running from the southern Gujarat coast to the northern Karnataka coast at sea level. It is likely to remain on the west coast during the next five days.

IMD is expecting widespread and heavy rainfall in the peninsular region due to these favorable conditions. It is reported that no signs of monsoon withdrawal have been reported from the northwestern parts of the country so far. Weather information organization Skymet said that except Uttarakhand in North India, there is no possibility of rain in all the other states.

Rainfall may occur at one or two places in Uttarakhand. Apart from this, IMD said in its weather bulletin issued on Sunday, ‘Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim, Odisha, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Konkan.

And rain is forecast at Goa, Rayalaseema, coastal and north interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and places in Kerala and Mahe. Weather in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh may also worsen and showers may occur at different places.

At the same time, according to Skymet, light to moderate rain at many places over Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Eastern and North-Eastern Bihar, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, South Konkan Goa, and Coastal Karnataka during the last 24 hours.

Heavy rains were recorded at some places between. Apart from this, good rainfall has also occurred in some places in Telangana, Vidarbha, Southwest Madhya Pradesh, and Saurashtra and Kutch regions of Gujarat.

Light to moderate rainfall was also recorded at a few places over Kerala, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, interior Karnataka, eastern parts of Gujarat, southern Rajasthan and rest of northeast India …. and southeastern Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh Light rains accompanied with thunder in one or two places in the eastern and central parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
