Military talks between India and China, the Ministry of External Affairs said – the issue of withdrawing troops will be considered.
The 12th round of military talks between India and China on the standoff in eastern Ladakh took place on Thursday.
The Foreign Ministry said that the recent military talks between the two countries were constructive. Both sides agreed to resolve the remaining issues expeditiously.
Let us inform you that this high-level military dialogue between India and China took place after more than three and a half months.
On Monday, two days after talks by the Indian Army, a joint statement said that there was an extensive exchange of views between the two sides on the issue of withdrawal of troops and the meeting further strengthened mutual understanding.
When asked about the India-China military talks during the online press conference.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi referred to the statement issued after the talks and said it was a joint press statement.
He said the talks were clear and constructive as stated in the joint statement.
Both sides have agreed to work expeditiously to resolve the remaining issues in accordance with existing agreements and protocols and to maintain the momentum in dialogue and discussion.
The standoff along the border has been going on since the violent clash between the armies of India and China on May 5 last year in the Pangong Lake area.
After this incident, both countries had deployed thousands of additional troops and heavy weapons along the borders.
Both the countries have deployed about fifty-fifty thousand soldiers in the sensitive area on the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
After a series of military and diplomatic talks, the two sides withdrew their troops and weapons from the northern and southern end areas of Pangong Lake in February.
While China is trying to dominate areas like Gogra Hot Spring and Depsang Bulge in eastern Ladakh, the Indian Army has also strengthened its hold in these areas.
Both sides have agreed to withdraw forces from the Gogra patrolling point.
