Military talks between India and China lasted for 16 hours, discussion on withdrawal of troops from Depsang, Hot Springs and Gogra.

India and China have also begun to ease tensions on other fronts of confrontation after repelling their troops, weapons, and other military equipment from the northern and southern sides of Pangong Lake.

In view of this, India and China held military-level talks for 16 hours on Saturday. The meeting commenced at around 10 am on Saturday and the 10th round of commander-level talks lasted till 2 pm.

During this period, disengagement was discussed among other collisionists including Hot Springs, Gogra, and Depsang. The meeting took place in Moldo, China, on the other side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

The Indian side was led by Lieutenant General PGK Menon, commander of the 14th Corps at Leh in this dialogue.

The Chinese side was led by Major General Liu Lin, commander of the South Jinjiang Military District of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

According to sources, the focus of the talks was to carry forward the process of repelling the army. Both sides discussed its modalities.

According to him, reducing tension on the border is the priority of this dialogue. India has been consistently saying that in order to reduce tension in the region, it is necessary to withdraw the army from all tensions.

Significantly, on February 11, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh announced in Parliament that India and China have reached an agreement to reduce tensions.

The withdrawal of troops from the northern and southern sides of Pangong Lake between the two sides has been agreed upon.

According to the agreement, the two sides will repel troops deployed on the advance front in a phased, coordinated, and verified manner.

The two countries have reached an agreement to withdraw from the front and ensure the situation before April 2020.

As per the agreement to end the deadlock, India will deploy its troops in the permanent camp of Dhan Singh Thapa Post, which is located close to Finger-3.

At the same time, the Chinese army will move back towards the east of Finger-8 on the northern shore of Pangong Lake.

A similar action will take place on the southern side of the lake. On the basis of this agreement, the armies of both countries have retreated.
