Modi Govt Wants To Bring Naga Peace Talks Back On Track

Modi Govt wants to bring Naga peace talks back on track, IB gets special responsibility. Modi govt wants to start preparations to bring Naga peace talks once again on track. However, the Prime Minister’s Office has also expressed concern over the deadlock between rebel groups and the interlocutors of the Center for the past several months.

Amidst all these deadlocks, PMO’s Director of Intelligence Bureau (Arvind Kumar) and IB’s Special Director Akshay Kumar Mishra has been tasked to resume Naga peace talks. Please tell that it was Arvind Kumar who had asked the government to resume Naga peace talks.

An official associated with the PMO said that in the last 6 years, RN Ravi was talking to Naga groups from his level as a negotiator. However, the way the work should progress in the last 10 months has been stalled. Let us tell you that RN Ravi had recently targeted the elected government in Nagaland, saying that Nagaland is a region rich in natural resources. It will be sadly said that today this north-eastern region is performing the worst in the country.

It is worth noting that former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda has also expressed concern over the lack of a solution to the Naga problem soon. He said that the ongoing negotiations between the Central Government and NSCN (IM) had reached a difficult phase. In such a fragile time, the peace agreement should be brought to the conclusion as soon as possible, putting aside the distrust.

However, the Central Government has refused to back down on the issue of Naga peace talks. An official overseeing the whole matter said that the government cannot be threatened. In the last 11 months, the deadlock between RN Ravi and various Naga groups seems to be increasing. A consensus was to be formed in October last year but it could not be done.

After this, the Center started taking action against NSCN (IM) workers and leaders. This attitude of the Center bothers Naga leaders. A respectable solution to the seven-decade-old violent movement by the organization NSCN-IM, which is carrying out the process of peace agreement with the government, is not possible without flags and constitution.
