Mumbai Heavy Rain Alert: IMD Issues Red Alert In Mumbai

Mumbai Heavy Rain Alert: Meteorological Department issues Red Alert in Mumbai, High Tide Warning in the afternoon. The rain has started in Mumbai due to the strong monsoon over the Arabian Sea. The Meteorological Department has issued a Red Alert in Mumbai, North Konkan, and Thane District of Maharashtra in view of the possibility of continuous rains in the next 48 hours.

Weather forecasting agencies say that this will be the second round of heavy rains in Mumbai at intervals of a fortnight. Private weather agency Skymet Weather has advised Mumbaikars not to leave on August 4 and 5. After this, the intensity of rain will start decreasing from August 6. Landslides have also occurred in parts of Mumbai due to heavy rains throughout the night.

The low-lying areas of the city have been flooded due to heavy rains. Roads are submerged in Lower Parel, Dadar, Hindmata, Kings Circle, Sion, Chembur, Andheri, Santacruz, and many other areas. The Meteorological Department has warned of Hightide till this afternoon. Due to this, people have been advised not to go to the middle or lower area.

Flooded water in many areas, the possibility of high tide in the afternoon

The rainy season continues in Mumbai, with more than 230 mm rainfall recorded in the last 10 hours. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has issued a warning that high tide is likely to arrive in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon at 12.47 pm due to which 4.45 meters high waves will rise in the sea.

People have been advised to stay away from beaches and other low-lying areas. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), heavy rains in Mumbai are also impacting traffic.

Traffic affected due to heavy waterlogging

The western line was completely closed due to rain and the harbor line between Kurla and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) is also closed. The central line is slow-moving. Eight routes of buses have been diverted to various parts of Mumbai city and suburbs in view of excessive waterlogging on the roads.

Mainline and port line has been suspended due to waterlogging in Wadala and Parel suburban services due to fears of heights. There are no suburban trains between stations. Express trains are being rescheduled. Prabhadevi has been flooded due to which the Western Railway has continued to operate special suburban services between Virar-Andheri-Bandra but services between Bandra-Churchgate have been suspended.

Monsoon rains have flooded various areas of Mumbai. Roads have also been submerged in Mumbai’s Lower Parel due to rain. Explain that the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday in Mumbai and its suburban areas.

Due to continuous rains in Mumbai, various low-lying areas have been flooded with submerged roads of Parel East. Education authorities have been asked to keep BMC schools ready when an emergency arises and people need shelter.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that on August 4 and August 5, there will be heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad districts of Maharashtra. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Ratnagiri district on August 4, while Palghar district is expected to receive extremely heavy rainfall on August 5.
