Naftali Bennett will become the Prime Minister in Israel. Preparations for the coronation of Naftali Bennett in Israel, a coalition of eight parties.
Opposition parties have joined hands to oust Benjamin Netanyahu (71) from power in Israel. An agreement has been reached between these parties to form a coalition national government.
Yair Lapid, the leader of the Yes Etid party, has announced that a coalition of eight parties has been formed and a new government will be formed in the country soon.
If the opposition’s effort succeeds, Netanyahu, Israel’s longest-serving prime minister (12 years) and India’s friend, may have to step down.
According to the agreement reached between the opposition parties, Naftali Bennett (49), the leader of the right-wing Yamina Party, will become the first Prime Minister.
After him, Lapid will take over the reins of power. Lapid informed President Reuven Rivlin and Speaker of Parliament (Nicet) Yariv Levin at 11.30 pm on Wednesday that there was a coalition of opposition parties.
He told that this coalition has the majority to form the new government.
It is noteworthy that on the basis of the majority the time was fixed till Wednesday midnight to present the claim to form the government.
Lapid told Rivlin, “We are ready to form the government according to the provisions in the constitution.” This will be the new government and as prime minister, it will be headed first by Naftali Bennett.
This government will protect the interests of every citizen of Israel.
Lapid will take over the post of Foreign Minister in the new government and will get the post of Prime Minister according to the agreement in the middle of the government’s term.
According to Israel’s constitutional system, the prime ministerial candidate must first win a vote of confidence in parliament. The Prime Minister is sworn in after the trust vote.
Lapid has requested the Speaker to convene a special session of Parliament so that the process of trust vote can be completed.
President Rivlin congratulated Lapid and leaders of other parties on being ready to fulfill their promise of government formation.
Arab party will join power for the first time.
Israel has had four elections in less than two years, but not once has any party or coalition managed to get a majority to form a government.
Because of this, Netanyahu remains the caretaker prime minister of the country. This will be the first time in Israeli politics that an Arab party in the new coalition will take power.
The new coalition includes Yesh Etid, Yamina, Kahol Lavan, New Hope, Labour, Israel Beiteinu, Merez, and the United Arab List parties.
If this coalition’s government is successful in securing a vote of confidence, Israel will avoid going to the fifth general election.
