National Security Guard (NSG) force’s 37th Raising Day: Home Minister Amit Shah said NSG is a world-class trained force to deal with terrorism.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah Saturday congratulated the National Security Guard (NSG) force on its 37th Raising Day.

He said NSG  is a world-class trained force to deal with all facets of terrorism and the country is proud of its soldiers. NSG Foundation Day is celebrated every year on 16 October.

National Security Guard, NSG was established in 1984. Then the Union Cabinet had decided to create a special counter-terrorism force, which is well trained to deal with all aspects of terrorism.

It is used only in exceptional circumstances. This year marks the 37th anniversary of the establishment of the NSG. NSG is also known as Black Cats.

The Home Minister tweeted, ‘Congratulations to our brave NSG personnel on their 37th Raising Day. NSG is a world-class trained force to deal with all facets of terrorism.

The force has left no stone unturned to live up to its motto ‘Sarvartra Best Security’. India is proud of NSG Black Cats.

The NSG is deployed only in exceptional circumstances. SAGs consist of personnel from the State Police Forces or the Central Armed Police Forces.

It has six operational centers in the country, of which the seventh is planned in Pathankot.

NSG is capable of handling various high-pressure situations like terrorist attacks, hostage rescue, and kidnappings.

Before 2020, the NSG also handled VIP security in the country, but the central government had decided to remove it from VIP security.

The reason behind this move was given that the NSG needs to focus on its core counter-terrorism obligations.

Let us tell you that when this force was formed, VIP security was not included in its basic functions.

The Black Cats played an important role during the Mumbai attacks of 26/11 in 2008 through ‘Operation Black Tornado’.

The NSG commandos neutralized all the terrorists in coordination with personnel of other forces at Nariman House, Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, and Oberoi Trident Hotel.
