Naval Maneuvers With Several Countries In India

Naval maneuvers with several countries in India, Navy in an attempt to take an edge over China in the Indo-Pacific region. The Indian Navy has conducted joint military exercises with Russia and the Quad countries.

India held a three-day Naval military exercise with Japan from 26 September to 28 September 2020 in the northern Arabian Sea region. A Quad is a strategic group of four countries, India, America, Australia, and Japan.

Tensions have continued between India and China for the past several months. Meanwhile, in the Indian-Pacific Ocean region, the Indian Navy conducted separate military exercises with Russia and the Quad countries to take an edge over China.

While the maritime zone from India’s western sea border to the US is considered to be the Indian Pacific region, the Quad is a strategic group of four countries India, America, Australia, and Japan.

India held a three-day Naval military exercise with Japan from 26 September to 28 September 2020 in the northern Arabian Sea region.

This military exercise was the fourth edition of the military exercise between India and Japan every two years. Japan’s helicopter carrier JS Suga also participated in the exercise.

Earlier in October 2018, the two countries conducted joint military exercises near Visakhapatnam. Similarly, the Navy conducted a military exercise with the Australian Navy in the eastern Indian Ocean region from 23 to 24 September.

HMAS Hobart of Australia and Sahyadri and Karmuk ships of India participated in the exercise. The purpose of this exercise was to develop understanding and cooperation in the use of modern weapons prevalent in both countries.

Similarly, the Indian Navy along with the Russian Navy conducted military exercises in the Bay of Bengal on September 4 and 5. Navy spokesman Commander Vivek Madhwal said that the objective of this exercise was to develop mutual understanding and trust between the two countries.

This was the 11th practice with Russia. Both countries conduct this type of military exercise every two years. Similarly, two Navy ships participated in the exercise during the US Navy’s Nimitz carrier from the Indian Ocean to the Indian Ocean on July 20. This military exercise was known as Passax.
