Navy And Coast Guard will participate in a Two-day exercise. Two-day exercise to protect the beaches from today, many security agencies including Navy, Coast Guard will participate.

The Indian Navy and Coast Guard will conduct coastal security exercises on Tuesday and Wednesday with the intention of strengthening the coastal defense mechanism.

The two-day exercise is named ‘Sea Vigil’, the second edition of Sagar Vigilance.

Capt. Ajay Yadav, Command Coastal Security Officer at Western Naval Command Headquarters, said that the aim is to assess the security preparedness of the country’s coasts.

The exercise will be carried out with all the coastal states and union territories of the country and the Special Economic Zones of India. Also, it will involve all the stakeholders.

These include the Navy as well as the Indian Air Force, Coast Guard, National Security Guard (NSG), Police, Customs, CISF, Fisheries, DG Shipping, Port Trust, etc.

He said that the exercise would also test the potential of the fishing community acting as the ‘eye and ear’ of the security forces along with extensive use of technical infrastructure.

This community is the first to report any kind of danger coming through the sea.

Captain Yadav said that the Automatic Information System (AIS) has been installed on all warships, through which information management and analysis center located in Gurugram will get instant information about them.

From here this information will be released to Joint Operations Centers (JOCs) located in different parts of the country.

It is noteworthy that the Indian Navy is continuously practicing amidst the ongoing tension with China in East Ladakh. Most recently Indian Navy practiced with the Vietnam Navy for two days in the South China Sea.

This exercise was done to increase cooperation in maritime security. In this two-day exercise, the navies of both countries understood each other’s strengths and strategic techniques.
