Negotiations Continue To Resolve India-China Border Dispute

Negotiations continue to resolve the India-China border dispute, and security first priority in the Modi government’s foreign policy- S Jaishankar.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Tuesday that the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given first priority to security in foreign policy.

He said, ‘I want to put this in the context of a larger vision of the Modi government. We have always given security a very high priority, in fact, security is the number one priority in our foreign policy.

Speaking on the India-China border, Jaishankar took a tough stand, saying that ‘over the last two years, we have been very clear and very effective in ensuring that there is no attempt on our part to unilaterally change the status quo on the Line of Actual Control.

Negotiations continue to resolve border issues.

The External Affairs Minister reiterated that in 1962 China occupied several areas, which are strategic, including Ladakh, and was creating challenges for the border forces.

He also emphasized that talks are on between the two countries to resolve border issues through discussions involving their military commanders and diplomats.

Jaishankar meets the Chinese Foreign Minister.

S Jaishankar had recently met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of a conference of foreign ministers of the G-20 countries in Bali.

Meanwhile, both sides agreed to look forward to the next round of military talks between the two sides to resolve the boundary issue at the earliest.

20 soldiers were martyred in the Galwan conflict.

After the Galwan conflict in 2020, there have been several rounds of military and diplomatic talks to resolve the standoff.

20 Indian soldiers were martyred in the clashes that took place on the intervening night of 15 and 16 June in the Galwan Valley.

Clashes broke out along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh after a standoff over Chinese military action.
