The police have detained a news channel anchor for distorting the statement of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

On Tuesday morning, Chhattisgarh Police reached Noida to arrest the anchor of a private news channel.

Noida Police is currently interrogating anchor Rohit Ranjan in custody between the Noida Police and Chhattisgarh Police regarding the arrest of the anchor.

News anchor Rohit Ranjan is accused of distorting a statement of Rahul Gandhi and running it in his show in the wrong context.

Chhattisgarh Police officials reached his residence to arrest journalist Rohit Ranjan in connection with an FIR lodged earlier against him.

After this, the journalist tweeted this morning, ‘Chhattisgarh Police is standing outside my house to arrest me without informing the local police, is it legal.’

After this, the Ghaziabad Police responded by tweeting that ‘the matter is the local police. Indirapuram police are on the spot, action will be taken as per the rules.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Ranvijay Singh said on Tuesday that BR Venkataraman, located in Sector-16A, has lodged a complaint against a senior producer and a trainee producer of the institute in the police station Sector 20.

According to the complaint, both the producers distorted his (Rahul’s) statement about the vandalism of Rahul Gandhi’s office in Wayanad, Kerala.

Ranvijay Singh said that investigation is being done by registering a case under section 505 (2) in this case.

He told that the anchor, who read the sad news, is being interrogated by taking him into custody.

At present, anchor Rohit Ranjan is in the custody of Noida Police and Chhattisgarh Police also has a warrant. In such a situation, he may be arrested soon.
