NIA Court Rejected Sachin Waze’s Appeal

NIA Court rejected Sachin Waze’s appeal, sought permission from the court to be under house arrest.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) court on Wednesday dismissed the appeal of former Mumbai Police officer Sachin Waze.

Waze had appealed to the court to allow him to be placed under house arrest for three months till his recovery after heart surgery. Sachin Waze will instead be shifted to Taloja Jail Hospital.

The court, however, has allowed him to deliver home-cooked food and said he can be shifted to JJ Hospital in case of an emergency.

Let us tell you that on September 13, he had a heart bypass surgery in a private hospital.

Waze, in his application seeking his three-month detention, had said he had undergone a complicated heart surgery with five grafts and was at risk of infection in the prison environment.

Waze was even ready to bear the cost of posting seven police guards at his house.

Vajhe’s lawyer had told the court that there was no question of absconding as Vajhe would be in police custody and security personnel would also be present there.

His wife and daughter will meet him only for medicine and food.

It is only with the intention of ensuring a clean environment for the accused and providing better medical treatment to the accused, permission is being sought.

The lawyer argued that tuberculosis is one of the life-threatening infections in prison.

NIA Court rejected Sachin Waze’s appeal: Special NIA Judge AT Wankhede, perusing Waze’s report from the private hospital.

He said that as per the report he will recover within four to five weeks and can lead a normal life, there is no need for a house arrest.

The Special Public Prosecutor, representing the NIA, argued that the accused was seeking interim bail under the guise of house custody.

Care instructions have been given after discharge from the hospital. It added that the accused can start his day-to-day work.

In fact, after six weeks, he can start heavy-duty work.” The accused wants him to be kept away from jail. “If this is allowed, further investigation may be hampered.
