NIA Files Charge Sheet Against Two Lashkar Terrorists

NIA files charge sheet against two Lashkar terrorists, conspiracy to murder prominent Hindu personalities.

The National Investigative Agency, NIA on Monday files a supplementary charge sheet against two terrorists of Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Both the terrorists are accused of carrying out subversive activities in the country, waging war against India, and being involved in the conspiracy to assassinate prominent figures of the Hindu community.

NIA spokesperson said that the two terrorists filed a charge sheet against Dr. Shabil Ahmed of Bangalore and Asadullah Khan of Hyderabad under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act (UAPA) has gone.

The case, filed in August 2012 in Bangalore, pertains to a conspiracy hatched by members of banned terrorist organizations Lashkar-e-Taiba and Harkat-ul-Jihad-e-Islami (HuJI).

According to officials, they had collected illegal weapons and ammunition to target communal harmony and terror in the society.

Targeting important figures of the Hindu community in Bengaluru and Hubli in Karnataka, Nanded in Maharashtra, and Hyderabad in Telangana.

NIA had re-filed the case in November 2012 and filed charge sheets against 17 accused.

An NIA spokesman said that both Lashkar members Ahmed and Khan along with other accused were involved in a criminal conspiracy to help and enhance the purpose of the terrorist organization of Dammam and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

He actively participated in meetings in which terrorist activities such as the murder of important figures of the Hindu community were planned in Bengaluru, Hubli, and Nanded.

In September 2016, a special NIA court in Bangalore convicted 13 accused in the case and sentenced them to five years in prison.

Gangster Ravi Pujari, accused in the 2016 Gazali Hotel Firing (2016 Gajali Restaurant Firing) case, will be produced in Mumbai Sessions Court today (Tuesday).

Mumbai Police has brought Ravi Pujari from Bangalore at 6.10 am on Tuesday morning. He was subjected to a medical checkup before being taken into lockup.

After the directions of the Karnataka High Court, Mumbai Police has been given the custody of Ravi Pujari. The Mumbai Police has brought it by road.
