NIA Raids Linked to Chandigarh Bomb Blast: The NIA has raided 16 locations in Punjab, UP, and Uttarakhand in connection with the Chandigarh bomb blast, revealing links to ISI-backed Pakistan-based terrorists.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday raided 16 places including Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand in connection with the bomb blast in Chandigarh on September 11 in the year 2024.

The case includes Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)-backed Pakistan-based terrorist Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)’s Harvinder Singh and US-based Harpreet Singh.

The raids include 14 places in Punjab as well as one each in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The operation is aimed at uncovering important evidence and tracking down persons linked to the incident.

The grenade blast in Chandigarh in September last year raised security concerns after which the NIA launched an intensive investigation.

NIA Raids Linked to Chandigarh Bomb Blast: One person was arrested in the case

Last year, in this case, the Punjab Police had said that they had solved the Chandigarh grenade blast case by arresting a person in a joint operation with central agencies.

He claimed that Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)-backed Pakistan-based terrorist Harvinder Singh alias Rinda and US-based Harpreet Singh alias Happy Pasia conspired for the operation.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav had then informed that the state police had arrested a man named Rohan Masih, a resident of Pasia village in Amritsar.

Happy Pasia had provided financial assistance

According to the police, the investigation revealed that Happy Pasia provided explosives, arms, and logistical support to the accused through his local associates in Punjab and also arranged some financial assistance for them.

He said that after committing the crime, the two came to Amritsar and later separated, while Vishal first went to Jammu and Kashmir and then went to Delhi after police teams nabbed him.

The incident happened on September 11

On September 11, a hand grenade was hurled at a house in Sector 10 in Chandigarh. Later, the Chandigarh police investigated the incident and found that two persons came on an auto-rickshaw and one of them hurled the hand grenade at the house. KK Malhotra, a retired principal of an institution in Himachal Pradesh, owns the residence.
